I Tested eToro's New AI App. My Honest Verdict

The eToro update I tested

eToro rebuilt its app around AI, and I spent time testing the changes inside my own account. My verdict up front: parts of this update are real improvements, the two-app situation is confusing, and none of it changes how I invest day to day.

Some context on where I am coming from. I have been investing with eToro since October 2024. It is one of my three brokers, and it holds the portfolio I manage on eToro. If you want the bigger picture of how eToro fits into my broker setup, I have written that up separately.

One more thing before we start, in the interest of full transparency: I attended eToro's launch event in London as an affiliate. eToro invited me. That does not change what I write here, but you should know it.

Throughout this review I will keep three labels straight: what I personally tested in my account, what is available or rolling out, and what eToro has announced but I have not seen yet. eToro itself states that product and service availability varies by jurisdiction and country, so your account may look different from mine.

Why eToro now has two apps

In July 2026, eToro unveiled a rebuilt mobile app at its Intelligence in Motion event in London. The company calls the new app AI-first, faster, and more personal. The launch came with a refreshed logo, a new visual identity, and the tagline "Know better."

On my phone, that currently translates into two apps sitting next to each other: the original eToro app and a separate eToro AI app.

Here is my honest problem with this. The two apps overlap heavily. Most screens and features are close to identical, so I keep asking myself which one I am supposed to open. Out of habit, I still spend most of my time in the original app.

To be fair, the new experience does look better. The portfolio presentation in particular is cleaner, and the breakdown of holdings is easier to read. That is the part I noticed most.

My preference is simple: one app, with a clear switch between a simple mode and an advanced mode, the way plenty of other platforms handle it. Until that happens, expect a bit of duplication on your home screen.

One platform, two apps What overlaps and what remains confusing

What overlaps: Trading, portfolio, watchlists, and most core screens. What remains confusing: Which app you are supposed to use, and whether they will merge.

Tori inside a real portfolio

Tori is the AI agent at the center of the new experience. eToro describes it as a proactive assistant that can surface portfolio insights, market signals, and the reasons behind price movements. According to eToro's live product page, Tori is powered by Grok 4.2, can use your portfolio context, your interests, and past conversations, and can surface real-time market conversation from X. It appears as an icon on key platform screens.

I tested Tori inside my real portfolio, and this is where the update earned my attention. Its strongest advantage is context. I asked it questions about my own holdings, including which one had performed best this year, and it answered from the positions I actually own. Any general chatbot can talk about markets, but without setup it cannot see your account. Tori can, and eToro says it can also review holdings, highlight risks, and surface portfolio insights on its own.

Now the caveat about how I personally work. I connect my broker data to my own AI of choice, because I want context across all my brokers, not just one platform. Some of my positions exist in more than one account, so an answer based on a single portfolio only tells part of the story. I explained how I use AI as a second opinion in my research process, and that setup still fits me better. It takes effort, though. For most people, Tori is the easier entry point: no configuration, already inside the app, already aware of your portfolio.

Tori disclosure

One sentence from eToro that belongs in every Tori conversation: Tori is an AI tool for informational purposes only; its responses may be inaccurate or incomplete and should not be considered investment advice. Treat it as a research assistant. The decisions stay yours.

Agent Portfolios and the App Store

Agent Portfolios are the boldest part of this launch. The concept: a separate portfolio inside your eToro account where an AI agent trades on your behalf. You choose the capital allocation and the agent. The agent connects through scoped API credentials and can only act within the portfolio you assign to it. Automated strategies can open and close positions, check balances, and manage that scoped portfolio. eToro says Tori can help you create and manage Agent Portfolios, and you can pause or stop one.

eToro describes Agent Portfolios as a gradual rollout. I saw the Agent Portfolios surface in my account, but whether you see it depends on your account and region.

I want to be direct about the risk here, because this is real money running on automation. Automated execution can magnify bad data, faulty logic, and poor risk controls. A flawed strategy keeps executing until you stop it. AI does not improve returns, and it does not reduce investment risk. If you experiment with this, understand exactly what the agent is allowed to do, keep the allocation deliberate, and check in on it regularly.

The App Store sits alongside this. In my account I can see a store surface where apps connect to eToro. eToro has announced that the App Store will keep growing, so I would treat the current version as a starting point rather than a finished catalogue.

eToro Edge on desktop

eToro Edge is the new desktop app aimed at active traders, built around advanced charting and analytics. I tested it on my desktop.

The core idea is configurable widgets. You build your own screens: watchlists, charts, upcoming events, arranged however you want across multiple layouts. Setting up a new layout was quick, and moving widgets around felt smooth.

My take splits by investor type. If you trade frequently and spend real time in your account, Edge is useful. Your most-used information sits one glance away, exactly where you placed it. If you are a long-term investor like me, it is unnecessarily busy. I do not need a multi-screen trading cockpit to hold positions for years. I review my portfolio on a schedule instead, using my portfolio review checklist, and that job needs no dashboard.

The smaller changes that matter

Beyond the headline features, eToro announced clearer portfolio views, richer asset pages, and advanced charts. The cleaner portfolio view is the change I appreciate most in daily use. It sounds minor, but it is the screen I open more than any other, so minor adds up.

Then there is the announced list, which I have not seen in my account yet: Tori access through WhatsApp, Tori on Apple Watch, goal-based sub-accounts, an expanded App Store, and instant self-custody wallet tools. Sub-accounts interest me most, because separating goals inside one account is something many brokers still lack. But announced is announced. I will judge each of these when it actually shows up in my account.

My verdict after using it

Positive, but measured. The rebuilt experience is a real step forward: a cleaner portfolio view, an AI assistant that understands my actual holdings, and a capable desktop app for the people who want one. The direction is just as clear. eToro wants AI built into every layer of the platform, and this launch backs that up with features you can already use, plus more announced.

At the same time, the two-app situation needs a resolution, and the most ambitious pieces are either rolling out gradually or still announcements. For me personally, nothing here changes how I invest. I liked the platform before this update, I still like it, and my routine stays the same: buy, hold, review on a schedule.

My verdict in three lines

Useful now Tori's portfolio context, the cleaner portfolio view, Edge for active traders
Still confusing Two overlapping apps and no clarity on which one to use
Who should wait Anyone whose account does not show the new features yet, and anyone drawn to Agent Portfolios before understanding the automation risk

Which parts matter for you

Long-term investors

The cleaner portfolio view and Tori are the upgrades that count. You can skip Edge.

Active traders

Edge's configurable layouts and advanced charts are built for you.

Automated strategies

Agent Portfolios are rolling out gradually. Learn the scoped setup and the risks before allocating anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is the new eToro app available in every country?

Not necessarily. eToro states that product and service availability varies by jurisdiction and country. Tori and Agent Portfolios are rolling out gradually, so your account may not show everything I tested in mine.

You choose the capital allocation and the agent, the agent connects through scoped API credentials, and it can open and close positions within that assigned portfolio. You can pause or stop it. Automated execution can magnify mistakes, so understand the setup fully before allocating money.

What is eToro Edge?

A desktop app aimed at active traders, built around advanced charting, analytics, and configurable widget layouts. I found it useful for frequent traders and unnecessarily busy for long-term investors who check in on a schedule.

Do I need to switch from the original eToro app?

In my account, the original eToro app and the eToro AI app currently exist side by side, and their features largely overlap. The AI app looks cleaner, especially the portfolio breakdown, but I still use the original app most of the time. My hope is that eToro merges the two into one app with a clear mode switch.
